A couple small-school programs will see action in the Southern California Regional playoffs on Tuesday.

After locking up its first divisional title with a sweeping victory over La Quinta on Saturday, third-seeded Village Christian will host Calvary Murrieta in the Division IV Southern California Regional quarterfinals.

Santa Clarita Christian lost in the Division V quarterfinals, but made the Division V playoffs as an at-large berth. But the Cardinals will have their hands full with second-seeded Visalia Central Valley Christian.

Village Christian, on the otherhand, has a good chance of living for another day even though everybody knows Division IV-A champ Calvary Murrieta isn’t going to go down easy. I’m no Karch Kiraly, but I like the Crusaders’ chances in this one, thanks to the depth on their roster.

OHs Rachel Taylor and Jenna Kapuscinski have done a great job spearheading Village Christian’s hitting effort (they have nearly 600 combined kills!) and Megan Weichmann and Myleene Nueve give the team a steady defensive presence in the back court.

If these girls play like they did against La Quinta, consecutive win No. 12 should be theirs.
