OK, maybe the referees didn’t cost Banning the Championship Division quarterfinal game against host Carson. But the Pilots’ coaching staff didn’t seem to give their team a great shot at winning the game, which the Colts took, 27-12.

I am left wondering...

Why replace your senior quarterback in the second quarter of the biggest game of the season and insert an unproven junior?

Why not use a timeout when you’re inside the Carson 40-yard line and trailing by eight points in the final minute of the first half, instead of letting the clock wind down?

Why put the senior quarterback back into the game in the second half when the junior was playing pretty well and the senior’s confidence is likely eroded? (He was intercepted on the first series of the second half).

Why try an onside-kick after cutting the deficit to 21-12 midway through the third quarter, instead of making the Colts drive the length of the field?

These are just a few questions that come to mind. And I’m probably not the only one with them. The coaches have nine months to get back to me.
