Last year in the City playoffs, Carson successfully exploited Dorsey’s biggest weakness -- a lack of big linemen to withstand the power of the Colts’ offensive and defensive attacks. That, and tailback Jack Sula’s power running.
‘Our biggest fear was facing a big back who could run right at us because we weren’t very stout up front,’ Dorsey Coach Paul Knox said. ‘And that’s exactly what [Sula] did.’
Although Dorsey was in the quarterfinal playoff game until the fourth quarter, the Colts ultimately ran away from the Dons, 38-20. Sula wound up with 226 yards in 29 carries. This Friday, Dorsey (9-3) gets another chance against Carson (10-2) in the City Championship semifinals.
‘I think we are better physically than we were last year,’ Knox said. ‘We better be, or we could be in trouble again.’
