Well, I was half right about the quarterfinals.

I didn’t foresee Venice imploding so completely against Dorsey; or Narbonne trying to play Crenshaw with Crisco all over their hands. I’m just glad Birmingham and Carson avoided upsets.

While the Coliseum League, which I thought was down this season, proved a point by placing two teams in the semifinals, it feels dicey to back them in this week’s matchups. Both Dorsey (9-3) and Crenshaw (8-4) are on the road, at Carson (10-2) and Birmingham (11-1) respectively.

Crenshaw has the athletic talent to give Birmingham a scare, but I don’t see the Cougars putting up 40 on the Patriots’ defense. Carson beat Dorsey on its home field in the semfinals last year; I don’t see the Dons, despite the consistent high level of play of running back Johnathan Franklin, returning the favor.
