The Monsoons are mounting

The unranked Mayfair Monsoons have kicked off the boys’ basketball season at 3-1, most recently leveling No. 16 Loyola over the weekend. They also squashed Locke by 43 points and Gardena by 22.

First-year Coach Tony Davis has given Mayfair a zap of enthusiasm and the addition of transfers Charles Odum (St. John Bosco) and Keith Thompson (Downey) has beefed up an already solid lineup.

Oh, and how about the Monsoons’ only loss this season -- it was to the No. 1-ranked team in the Southland, Fairfax.
