It seems I’m not the only one raving about the accomplishments of two highly-talented regional football standouts.

St. Bonaventure RB Darrell Scott and Notre Dame QB Dayne Crist are among six finalists for the 2008 U.S. Army All American Player of the Year Award. The award will be handed out at the U.S. Army All-American Awards dinner in San Antonio, Texas on Jan. 4.

Scott leads the Seraphs into their Northern Division final against Hart at 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Home Depot Center with 2,126 yards and 27 TDs. He has rushed for more than 7,000 yards in his career. Crist’s season came to a premature end after the Knights fell to Newport Harbor in the opening round of the Pac-5 Division playoffs. Still, the University of Notre Dame-bound QB passed for 2,178 yards and 16 TDs.

Both players have already accepted invitations to play in the Army All-American Bowl at the Alamodome in San Antonio on Jan. 5. NBC will televise the game live at 10 a.m.
