Could geography play a role in selecting teams for state bowl berths?

Just throwing this out there...

If the primary candidates to be the south’s representative to next weekend’s state Division I bowl championship football game, Birmingham and Corona Centennial, win their section division title games this weekend ....

And one of the favorites to represent the south in the state Division II bowl game, Crespi, beats Long Beach Poly for the Pac-5 title on Saturday...

And either St. Bonaventure or Oaks Christian, the favorites to represent the south in the state Division III game, wins its section title game this weekend....

Would/could it all work to the disadvantage of one of the ‘San Fernando Valley/North’ teams, hurting its chances of being the south’s representative to a state championship bowl game?

Would/could the fact that Crespi (from Encino) and either St. Bonaventure (Ventura) or Oaks Christian (Westlake Village) hurt the chances of Birmingham (from Lake Balboa/Van Nuys) from gaining the berth, just because of its geographical location? Might the CIF section commissioners want to spread the wealth by going to an Inland Empire school?

Just wondering.

I don’t know if Birmingham is better than Corona Centennial or vice versa. I know how they both did against their one common opponent, Crespi, but that was at the beginning of the season and doesn’t seem particularly relevant right now.

If both teams win big -- as expected by most -- this weekend, those commissioners are going to be faced with one heckuva tough decision this Sunday. Glad I don’t have to make it.
