If you want to get Hart Coach Mike Herrington fired up, bring up the recruiting status of senior QB B.R. Holbrook. For some reason the 6-foot-2 playmaker hasn’t received any offers from big name programs and that has been a real head scratcher for the 19-year head coach heading into the second-seeded Indians’ Northern Division final against top-seeded St. Bonaventure at The Home Depot Center at 4 p.m. Saturday.

‘I think he’s a Pac-10 caliber quarterback because we’ve had more than a few of those come through our program,’ Herrington said. ‘We’ve had some great quarterbacks in the past and B.R. is right up there with them. He’s played exceptional, especially throughout the playoffs, and he’s a team leader.’

Holbrook is one of the reasons the Indians are back in the finals for the first time since 2003 in pursuit of the program’s ninth divisional title. He’s passed for 2,373 yards and 23 TDs in his first season starting under center and has rushed for 750 yards and eight TDs. He’s the best QB Hart’s had since Matt Moore and it wouldn’t be a stretch to group him with Kyle Boller or former Cardinal Kyle Matter.

And Herrington isn’t the only one dumbfounded that only a handful of programs have expressed interest in Holbrook. Apparently, Alemany Coach and former Hart assistant Dean Herrington is a little miffed too.

Of course, there’s nothing like having a big game in a division championship to get your name on the recruiting radar. Maybe that’s what Holbrook should be shooting for on Saturday.
