Barbara Fiege can go to the state bowl game selection meeting on Sunday at the Home Depot Center in Carson with a straight face.

The City Section commissioner won’t have to exaggerate at all about how good Birmingham is. The Patriots (13-1), who walked through Carson (11-3), by a score of 41-6 in the City Championship Division final at the Coliseum on Friday night has made a strong case to be the south’s representative to the state Division I bowl championship game on Dec. 15 at the Home Depot Center.
