Colony takes advantage of physical advantage over Canyon Springs

Colony scored again with 1 minute 23 seconds remaining in the first half, giving the Titans a 21-7 lead over visiting Canyon Springs in the Central Division final.

Colony’s receivers are just bigger and more physical than Canyon Springs’ defensive backs. Elon Wyatt, who caught a 28-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, is listed at 6-1, 187 pounds. Bobby Wagner, who caught a 27-yard touchdown pass late in the second quarter, is 6-1, 217. Canyon Springs is countering with a secondary that ranges in size from 5-5, 135 to 5-11, 175, and they can’t tackle very well.

That ain’t gonna work.

I guess all the big defensive backs went to Rancho Verde.

The Canyon Springs coaches aren’t exactly helping their defense, calling a fake punt inside their own 20-yard line with 9:30 remaining in the second quarter. The ball was snapped to the halfback and he never got a good handle on it before he was swarmed.

The only bright side to the play was that Colony didn’t take advantage with a touchdown, settling for a 31-yard field goal that was blocked.

It looks as if the Central Division title is safe in the hands of Colony again.

I’m just curious, how do they celebrate out here in dairyland?
