As Todd Therrien walked off the Home Depot Center field Saturday, he didn’t have to look very far to find a critical element in his team’s success this season.

It was wearing brown. It was playing the next game. It was Crespi.

‘Our defining moment this season is when these guys kicked our butts,’ said Therrien, in his first season since replacing Jon Mack as St. Bonaventure’s coach. ‘I don’t think we’ve come out flat since.’

Crespi defeated St. Bonaventure, 25-9, on Sept. 8. Since then, the Seraphs (13-1) have scored fewer than 36 points only once, in a 27-7 playoff victory over San Luis Obispo. In four games before the loss, they had scored more than 34 points only once.

‘That’s when we made the quarterback change,’ Therrien said, referring to Casey Serna taking over for Tony Macarena. ‘We realized we had to play every time.’

They certainly played Saturday. And played well.

Serna completed four of eight passes for 62 yards and one touchdown and rushed 11 times for 140 yards and two scores. Darrell Scott finished with 32 carries for 156 yards and three touchdowns rushing and one receiving.
