Four boys’ basketball players who transferred from Woodland Hills Taft to Reseda have been declared ineligible by the City Section because of a new CIF transfer rule.

The four boys played on a traveling team coached by former Taft JV Coach Randall Harris. Because Harris’ son transferred to Reseda and the other Taft players followed, they are ineligible under the new state rule that bars players on an outside team from transferring to another school that has a person associated with that outside team.

Two other players who transferred to Reseda from Taft are eligible to play for the Regents because they were not members of the travel team, City Section Commissioner Barbara Fiege said.

If the players want to regain their eligibility, they would have to submit evidence proving that their transfer was not for athletic reasons and that they weren’t recruited to Reseda.
