Do I think Corona Centennial has a chance against Concord De La Salle in the state Division I bowl championship game Saturday at Home Depot Center?

It depends.

Granted, I’ve seen half of Centennial’s games this season, compared to only one of De La Salle’s, and that was back in early October when the Spartans took apart host Mission Viejo, 35-7.

However, from what I’ve read on Varsity Times Insider, and a couple other places, some folks believe the Huskies have the offense to stay with DLS. I couldn’t agree more, but the ultimate wild card will be the men in stripes.

Centennial tends to draw flags like confetti at Mardi Gras. The Spartans, on the other hand, are the deacons of discipline. If there’s a big discrepancy in the number of penalties, that’ll be a major factor, especially if the Huskies get points taken off the scoreboard. They will need all they can get.

If Centennial can play a clean game, it has a good shot of keeping the Division I state bowl title in SoCal.
