I’ve seen Corona Centennial play seven times this season and De La Salle once, so why is somebody else covering the Division I state bowl game Saturday?

Excellent question. Just call it the pecking order, I guess.

Instead, I’m covering the Division III game between St. Bonaventure, a team I haven’t seen in two years, and Modesto Central Catholic, which I’ve never seen (I’ve heard of them though)

I heard St. Bonny has a pretty good running back in Darrell Scott, the top-ranked recruit in the state and No. 2 in the nation.

Central Catholic has a talented running back as well in senior Louis Bland, who is also a two-time state wrestling champion.

If this was a wrestling match between Scott and Bland, it would be a no contest. Unfortunately for Central Catholic, it’s not.

I’ll be writing a story later in the week on Central Catholic, so be sure to check back for all the details. First, however, I’ve got to digest them myself.
