I don’t know if there is City girls soccer player enjoying a better start than Hamilton’s Andrea Caldas. In fact, I’m sure there is none.

The senior midfielder/forward, who scored three goals last season, has pumped in a City-high nine goals in six games for the Yankees (3-1-2) going into Thursday’s contest against University (1-2).

She has scored two goals in games against Taft, Birmingham, Grant and Kennedy. Fairfax held her to a single goal. The only team to hold Caldas scoreless was LACES.

Caldas has also surpassed the team-high seven goals scored last year by Brittany Robertson during Hamilton’s run to the City championship semifinals.

It’s early but I’m wondering how far Caldas can take the Yankees, who reached the City championship semifinals last season, when they lost to eventual-champion El Camino Real.
