The list of big name basketball prospects at the Tournament of Champions goes on and on. And on. Fans in attendance at Ocean View High on Thursday were treated to yet another classic duel, this time between Klay Thompson and Renaldo Woolridge, both sons of former NBA players.

Thompson, who’s father is former Laker Mychel Thompson, got the better of this showdown, scoring 25 of his 38 points in the second half to guide Santa Margarita to a 75-52 victory over Harvard-Westlake. Woolridge’s dad, 13-year NBA veteran Orlando Woolridge, would’ve been proud of his kid, who scored 22 points in the loss.

Woolridge and Thompson have difficult challenges again tonight, although they won’t be facing off against a player with an NBA bloodline. The Wolverines go up against Demar DeRozan and Compton at 5:30 p.m., and Thompson & Co. take on Jrue Holiday and Campbell Hall at 9:30.

Both appear to have bright futures at the next level. Thompson, a senior, is heading to Washington St. Woolridge, on the other hand, committed to Tennessee back in mid-November. Yes, these two sons are heading in the right direction.
