Two water polo standouts sign with UCLA

Two local water polo standouts signed on to wear blue and gold for the next four years.

Montebello senior driver Sarah Orozco and Ayala senior goalie Caitlin Dement each signed national letters of intent with UCLA on Friday.

Orozco led Montebello to consecutive Southern Section Division I title appearances in 2006 and 2007. She is also a member of the U.S. National Youth Team and will likely play alongside her older sister, Priscilla, who’s a freshman with the Bruins.

Dement was a 2007 Southern Section Division III first-team selection and played a key role in the Bulldogs’ 27-6 season last winter. As a sophomore, she helped Ayala win the Division II title.
