Thanks to another trademark performance by senior guard Alex Dill, Village Christian earned its first tournament title of the season by downing New Roads, 67-56, in the Providence tournament finale.

Dill scored a couple of crucial buckets in the final minute to seal the deal for the Crusaders and finished with 11 points. Of course, she had more than a little help from teammates Danielle Muir and Rebecca Gieske, who each netted 17 points.

But Dill has been the leading force behind the Crusaders’ 7-2 start. Through Friday, Dill had been averaging a team-best 13 ppg and 10.3 rpg. She was also named to the all-tournament team. Teammate Becky Quintana, though, took tournament MVP honors.

Maybe the Crusaders should think about tethering a big, red cape onto Dill’s shoulders heading into their next game against St. Lucy‘s in the Ontario Christian tournament on Wednesday. After all, Dill has been playing like a superhero for the Crusaders.
