Ventura finishes runner-up at Shark Tank wrestling tournament

Led by a pair of individual champions, Ventura took second out of 63 teams at the Shark Tank Invitational at Corona Santiago. Lower-weight MVP Erick Weisshaar pinned all five of his opponents in the 119-pound class, including runner-up Bien Ambrocio of Chino Hills in 2 minutes 36 seconds. Teammate Trevor Mick was a 4-2 winner over David Jordan of North Las Vegas Mojave in the 145-pound championship.

Ventura’s Isaac and Jacob Archibeque finished second at 152 and 171 pounds, respectively.

North Las Vegas Mojave claimed the team title, outscoring Ventura, 250-208. The Rattlers had three individual winners, including Deandre Taylor, who defeated Alemany’s Gary Espinosa, 6-2, in the 135-pound championship.
