In case you’re wondering, no one’s going to stop Oaks Christian from rolling to the Tri-Valley League boys’ basketball title this season. I really thought Jacob Ranger & Co. over at Carpinteria would be competitive, but after finding out the Lions decimated the boys from the laid back, seaside town, 57-31 on Wednesday, I’ve decidedly changed my mind.

Oaks Christian is just too darn good. Tyler McGrath and Matt Johnson are a formidable scoring duo and the Lions’ defense is one of the stingiest around, allowing an average of just over 39 points a game even though its played a respectable schedule. They held the UC Davis-bound Ranger to 13 points, his second-lowest total of the season, as the Warriors posted a season-low total for points.

Santa Clara, the only other undefeated team left in the Tri-Valley League, has an outside chance at breaking the Lions’ seemingly unstoppable run to the league title. The teams meet Monday. Still, I wouldn’t be shocked if this game turns out to be another Oaks Christian blowout.

Also, here are some highlights from the Lions’ 57-35 victory over Nordhoff on Monday:
