A young player to watch, and there are plenty of videos on the net if you’re like me and can’t seem to get out to Ontario, is Jordan Daniels of Chaffey.

Daniels, a 5-foot-5 freshman point guard, is averaging 9.4 assists heading into tonight’s Mt. Baldy League game at Ontario. He has the second-highest assist average in the state, according to MaxPreps.com. In fact, four of the state’s top five assist leaders are underclassmen.

Davie Champagnie and Mauricio Aldaba have been the biggest beneficiaries of Daniels’ passing skills. Champagnie, a 6-7 senior forward, is averaging a team-high 18.1 points heading into tonight’s game, and Aldaba, a 6-8 senior forward, is averaging 13.1.

An assist average is one basketball stat that can be inflated by clever scorekeeping, but seems as if Daniels is the real deal.

Anybody seen him play in person ... anybody?
