I knew Calabasas had this one.

Thanks to a goal by go-to guy Daniel Steres and a goal and an assist by sophomore teammate Trent Clifton, the Coyotes took over first place in the Marmonte League with a 2-1 victory over Newbury Park on Wednesday.

So, it’s pretty obvious that Calabasas’ 4-1 stumble against Newbury Park last month wasn’t a good performance indicator. And it was the Coyotes’ victories over Westlake and Thousand Oaks which proved their mid-December gaffe to the Panthers was a one-time deal.

This pack of players is definitely better than its record indicates and is fully capable of taking the league title.
