California, the rage is to stop ‘roids

It’s in the big leagues and bush leagues, the NFL and NBA. It’s in the college ranks, all divisions, and on all fields and courts and diamonds. It’s everywhere, undeniably, including high schools.
So, get smart, California -- and follow the lead of Illinois, which announced this week plans for steroid testing of high school athletes in the 2008-09 school year. It’s the fourth state that will enforce such a policy -- New Jersey, Texas and Florida are the others.
So, why wait, California? At the high-school level, stop steroids now.
