Let’s see, how can I put this without making it seem as if I have little, or no, idea about what’s going on. Forget it, there’s no need to sugar-coat things, my SF Valley/North regional rankings for Southern Section boys’ basketball teams last week were slightly off the mark. Plain and simple. Hey, it happens every once in a while, even to the best of us.

Then again, I can’t help it if Oaks Christian decided to pull a no-show Friday against Oak Park. The situation over at Hart with Mike Montgomery certainly didn’t help matters either. Who would have thought? Perhaps Simi Sam was right when he said I should use my brain before I write. So, without further delay, here we go again...

1. Campbell Hall (17-5): No shame in loss to Derrick Favors and South Atlanta.

2. Simi Valley (19-1): Get this -- Lorne Jackson & Co. haven’t lost this calendar year.

3. Harvard-Westlake (17-4): With Renaldo Woolridge around, this group is tough to beat.

4. Saugus (16-3): Centurions hoping to take control of Foothill League race this week.

5. Thousand Oaks (14-6): No stars, just players buying into Coach Rich Endres’ system.

6. Crespi (13-7): A 10-point loss to Verbum Dei in Mission League play. You kidding me?

7. Ventura (15-7): Tough to explain how the Cougars lost back-to-back games last week.

8. Lancaster (14-6): Well, well, well, look at who’s undefeated in the Golden League.

9. Santa Barbara (11-11): Channel League showdown Wednesday against Dos Pueblos.

10. Santa Clara (14-3): Two-game lead in Tri-Valley League appears comfortable.
