Brentwood doesn’t rebuild, it merely reloads.

Despite a starting lineup that includes five freshmen and two sophomores, the Eagles are 5-0-1 since winter break and appear to be on their way to a third consecutive Olympic League title.

Amanda Lisberger, pictured, one of only two senior starters, has played a major role in the program’s success the last three years. The Eagles’ scoring leader has tallied eight goals and three assists in the last six games alone, raising her season total to 18 goals and eight assists. She’s played 60 games since joining the team in ninth grade and has 78 goals and 29 assists over that span. Oh yeah, she’s also won back-to-back league MVP honors.

Lisberger, who is expected to sign with Texas on Feb. 6, has had lots of help from her younger teammates, particularly junior Caitlin Blosser, who has 24 points (nine goals and six assists). Sophomore forward Dani Maron has three game-winning assists since the break, and junior goalkeeper Susie Dunner has three shutouts in the last four games with the aid of a defense anchored by senior stopper Kelly McCarthy.

Brentwood (11-3-2 overall, 4-0 in league) has five matches remaining before the playoffs. Will the Eagles’ inexperience keep them grounded? Don’t count on it.
