The City Section’s Interscholastic Athletics Committee has approved a proposal allowing boys’ and girls’ volleyball teams to hold one preseason scrimmage. The approval begins with the boys’ volleyball season this spring.
The scrimmage must be scheduled between the first official day of practice and the first scheduled match of the season. All levels -- varsity, junior varsity and frosh-soph -- would have to play the scrimmage on the same day.
The scrimmage cannot exceed five games for the varsity and three games for the junior varsity and frosh-soph teams. Officials may or may not be used, depending on mutual agreement of the participating teams.
Each team will be required to have administrative approval for the scrimmage. In addition, the visiting team will provide its own transportation.
