Girls’ basketball: Brea takes control of Foothill at Nike Extravaganza

It’s taken 2 1/2 quarters for me to get hooked up to wireless internet inside the Mater Dei gym, I mean, the Meruelo Athletic Center. Otherwise, you would have heard from me long ago.

Brea Olinda scored the first 10 points of the second quarter to take a 22-6 lead, and led at halftime, 24-11. Ladycats looked good -- no, make that grrrrrreat!!! -- running the fast break. And their passing is exceptional, as always.

Foothill made only five of 28 shots from the field. That won’t get it done. Christina Marinacci has scored six of the Knights’ nine points in the third quarter. She has 15, and Foothill has pulled to within 27-20 with two minutes left in the third quarter.
