I’m seeing the good and bad sides of the Van Nuys boys’ basketball team.

The Hankins brothers, Mat and Willie, and Victor Rudd flashed all of their considerable skills in scoring the Wolves’ first 15 points in Friday’s Sunset Six League game against Grant.

But the trio of transfers was having difficulty integrating those skills with their teammates. And, at times, they looked unsure of where they were supposed to be defensively. Grant was getting -- and making -- some wide open shots.

The visiting Lancers built a 28-15 lead early in the second quarter before Van Nuys started to rally.
Nonetheless, Grant is still sitting on a 40-34 lead at halftime.
