Villa Park hires familiar name to take over football program

Villa Park has hired Dusan Ancich, son of legendary football coach Marijon Ancich, to take over its football program in 2009. In the upcoming season, he will serve on the staff of current Coach Pat Mahoney, who will retire from coaching at the end of the 2008 campaign, his 25th year at the Spartans’ helm.

Ancich has held head coaching positions at California and Cerritos highs. His father is the all-time leader in victories (344-123-4) in the state while coaching at St. Paul and Tustin highs. Marijon retired from high school coaching after the 2005 season to become defensive coordinator at Cerritos College.
