Some folks look at the record of the JSerra boys’ basketball team and automatically wonder what the Lions are doing in The Times’ top 25 -- remember, they play in the Trinity League against Mater Dei and Santa Margarita -- but they showed their true colors Saturday afternoon against Colony at the Nike Extravaganza at Mater Dei High.

Demetrius Walker scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead JSerra (16-9). Walker, a 6-foot-4 junior transfer from Fontana, showed his ability to get off the floor with some flashy dunks. Alec Williams, a 6-6, 235-pound junior forward, had 22 points and eight rebounds, and 6-11 senior center Chris Gabriel, who has signed with New Mexico State, had 11 points and 11 rebounds for No. 17 JSerra.

Tyler Lamb, a 6-5 sophomore and a player to watch down the line, scored 23 points to lead Colony, but he also committed 10 turnovers.
