The Los Alamitos boys’ basketball team proved last night’s loss to Sunset League rival Edison was no fluke, losing again this afternoon to Anaheim Canyon, 62-50, in the third game of the Nike Extravaganza at Mater Dei High.

I expected more out of Corbin Moore, the Griffins’ 6-foor-10 senior forward who looked so promising two years ago. Moore scored a team-high 18 points, but got off only 11 shots against a much smaller opponent.
I thought he could have made himself a better target for passes down low.

Canyon senior Jerime Anderson, meanwhile, played like a UCLA-bound point guard, scoring 26 points on 10-of-19 shooting and totaling eight assists and five steals. About the only negative was his seven turnovers.

Looks as if Canyon might find itself in The Times’ top 25 next week, replacing Los Alamitos.
