The Westchester boys’ basketball team is sticking it to Concord De La Salle (18-2) in the Nike Extravaganza at Mater Dei High.

The Comets lead, 40-25, at the half and it isn’t even that close.

Dwayne Polee, a 6-foot-8 sophomore for Westchester, threw down a high-flying all-oop dunk to give the Comets a 6-0 lead and it was all downhill from there.

Westchester (22-3), ranked sixth in the Southland by The Times, has made 16 of 23 shots from the field and five of five from the free-throw line.

Seven different players scored for Westchester in the first half, led by Jarred Dubois with nine points and Polee with seven.

It’s a little tough to see everything that’s going on.

The Mater Dei folks put the press in the top row with another row of seats directly in front of the media table with no drop off. Just my luck, the guy with the biggest head in the whole building sat in front of me. His head takes up the entire key on one side of the floor.
