Thirteen players who had committed to UCLA signed this morning at a ceremony at an Inglewood restaurant, including Compton defensive end Datone Jones, who had been considering Oregon in recent weeks.

It was an important milestone for new UCLA Coach Rick Neuheisel, who has been trying to hold together a recruiting class that could be ranked in the top 10 nationally.

During the festive atmosphere in Inglewood, Dorsey defensive back Johnathan Franklin said, ‘We’re going to take over one city at a time. When it started, who knew Microsoft was going to be as big as it is.’

Crespi quarterback Kevin Prince, who earlier committed to Washington, signed with the Bruins this morning at his high school, saying that the hiring of offensive coordinator Norm Chow ‘was the big turning point.’ He will either enroll in January of 2009 or the fall of 2010 depending on when he leaves for a two-year Mormon mission.
