Give them kudos or props or even a shiny gold star.

The Compton Tarbabes have just pulled off a first-ever feat in Moore League history, winning the league crown in back-to-back seasons. Here’s another Moore League first: No team has ever gone a perfect 12-0, as Compton has done. And please toss the bulk of the praise to Coach Tony Thomas, who’s only in his second year with Compton.

Yet, earlier this season, not all was so peachy.

The Tarbabes blew big games in big tournaments and had an underwhelming 10-5 record -- well, underwhelming for Compton. Then came doubt. ‘I started doubting the team. I started doubting myself,’ Thomas said. ‘Then we got enough time on the court and turned it around.’

Compton (22-5, 12-0) turned it around -- big-time -- with 13 straight wins to close out the schedule and now will likely head into the Southern Section Division I-AA playoffs with a coveted top-four seeding.
