Taft is seeded No. 1 for City Championship boys’ basketball playoffs

Taft was awarded the top-seeded sport for the City Section Championship Division boys’ basketball playoffs during the seeding meeting today. Westchester was No. 2, followed by No. 3 Fairfax and No. 4 Fremont.

The schedule for the first-round games at 7 p.m. on Friday:

No. 16 Manual Arts (16-13) at No. 1 Taft (21-3)

No. 8 Dorsey (16-7) at No. 9 Gardena (19-7)

No. 12 Cleveland (19-7) at No. 5 Palisades (24-6)

No. 13 King-Drew (15-11) at No. 4 Fremont (19-6)

No. 14 Van Nuys (13-15) at No. 3 Fairfax (22-4)

No. 11 Sylmar (17-8) at No. 6 Washington (22-4)

No. 10 Crenshaw (16-6) at No. 7 Jordan (16-9)

No. 15 Birmingham (11-11) at No. 2 Westchester (26-3)

Even though Gardena is a lower-seeded team, it is the home team because it is the co-champion of the Marine League, and Dorsey finished runner-up in the Coliseum League.
