Dave Jankowski, who coached girls’ basketball at La Palma Kennedy for 10 seasons, has resigned to become the interim boys’ athletic director at the school.

“It was just time to step away from girls and step into something else,” said Jankowski, who recalled having a record that was ‘about .500.’ The Fighting Irish were unable to win a league title in that span.

They struggled this season, going 3-12 overall, but lost five games by five points or less, and another by seven points.

The boys’ AD position became open with the recent resignation of Mitch Olson, who was also the football coach for 21 seasons. Olson’s last day is Friday. He is taking a coaching position at Watkinsville (Ga.) Oconee County High.
