City semifinals could be moved to Sports Arena

The City Section is investigating the possibility of moving next Friday’s semifinals in the City Championship Division for boys’ basketball to the Sports Arena and holding a doubleheader.

Crowd control and security concerns would be the reason the City Section could take away home games for the higher seeded teams in the semifinals, but it would be a great move for fans wanting to see both games in a setting that would ease parking and security issues.

A potential doubleheader matching Fairfax and Westchester in one game and top-seeded Taft against Fremont or Palisades in the other could also draw a good crowd, allowing the City Section to make some money, too.

Let’s hope it happens.
