Here are three fun picks for the Southern Section boys’ basketball playoffs -- the sleepers!

1. DIVISION I-AA: The No. 6-seeded Mayfair Monsoons (21-4) can rack up mucho points, 120 in their last game, and have beaten tough teams like Loyola and Gardena. Oh, and they’ve won 11 games in a row and took the Suburban League crown.

2. DIVISION I-A: The No. 11 Santa Monica Vikings (19-7) nabbed the Ocean League crown and had big nonleague wins against Loyola and Morningside. And this squad never seems to be a pushover.

3. DIVISION III-AA: The unseeded Ribet Academy Fighting Frogs (13-13) have weapons galore. Guys like Krystopher Faber (16 points and 17.5 rebounds per game), Kevin Scroggins (11.5 points and 2.6 assists) and Mardig Kiladjian (11.1 points).

Now, let’s hope my sleeper picks don’t snooze off in the first round, which kicks off tonight.

(By the way, the photo is from the flick ‘Sleepers’ -- thought it was appropriate, right?)
