When fourth-seeded Bell needed two overtimes on Friday to defeat 29th-seeded Reseda, 1-0, in the opening round of the 32-team City Section boys’ soccer playoffs, it prevented the biggest upset of the tournament.

But there were others. North Hollywood, seeded No. 26, defeated seventh-seeded San Fernando. El Camino Real, seeded No. 19, knocked off 14th-seeded Wilson. And there were near upsets, such as 25th-seeded Hamilton losing to eighth-seeded Manual Arts, 4-3, in overtime.

The tournament resumes on Tuesday, and one of the best matchups has No. 3 South East playing host to El Camino Real.

Speaking of Bell, it was Carlos Velasquez’s goal with two minutes left in the second overtime that lifted his team to victory over Reseda.
