The West Valley boys’ basketball team can’t make anything outside the paint, including from the free-throw line. Corona del Mar can’t seem to get a basket from anyone other than Stefan Galuz.

That said, it’s a pretty even game here at halftime of the Southern Section Division III-A quarterfinal.

Galuz,a 6-foot-9 senior center who is headed to Brown, has 14 points at the half to help fourth-seeded Corona del Mar to a 24-22 haltime lead over the No. 5 Mustangs.

Joseph Burton, a 6-8, 285-pound junior forward, is carrying the load for W est Valley. He has 10 points, but is just two for six from the free-throw line.

Those points could come in handy when this game is all said and done.
