Spoiled dreams. Spoiled milk. Spoiled anything is bad. Yet playing the role of spoiler is good. And you know what kind of role that is, right? It’s the team that spoils the plans of a supposed superior team.

There’s such a squad in the girls’ Southern Section Division I-AA girls’ basketball playoffs -- the unseeded Long Beach Jordan girls’ basketball team.

On Saturday, the Panthers rocked Royal, which entered the first round with an astounding 22-4 record. Next up on the Spoiler Watch is powerhouse Mater Dei (24-3), which plays the Panthers on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Come to think about it, there’s one more spoiler type in Division I-AA -- that’s Long Beach Wilson. The Bruins, at a not-so-hot 12-14, spoiled the hopes of Fullerton, which entered the playoffs 11 games over .500. Wilson will play No. 4-seeded Bishop Montgomery (22-6) on Wednesday at 7:30.

Now, let’s see if the spoiling continues.
