Boys’ soccer: Toreadors move on

Taft Coach Matthew Kodama felt there might be “something special” about sophomore Brian Behrad when he decided to promote Behrad from the junior varsity in tme for the City playoffs.
Behrad made that decision look good Thursday, scoring the only goal in Taft’s 1-0 victory over visiting Hollywood in the quarterfinals.
The Toreadors (17-4-3), seeded second, move on to next Wednesday’s semifinals, against El Camino Real or Venice.
The Sheiks, seeded 10th, end their season at 10-2-5.
“He took a pass from Augie Cazarez and came up big,” Kodama said of Behrad, who has now scored five goals in two weeks.
“He’s just a phenomenal player.”
