I was planning to wait until halftime to put the nail in Capistrano Valley’s coffin, but Mater Dei sophomore guard Gary Franklin has already accomplished that in the first quarter.

Franklin scored 13 points, including three three-pointers, to give the second-seeded Monarchs a 23-10 lead. Mater Dei sank four straight three-pointers in the first four minutes to take a 12-2 lead.

What’s funny is the Monarchs have a serious height advantage and they’re still destroying Capistrano Valley from the perimeter.
