Baseball: Fairfax alumni game to honor slain SWAT officer

The Fairfax baseball squad will inaugurate the 2008 season with an alumni game at 11 a.m. Saturday. A plaque will be presented before the game to the family of the late Randal Simmons, the first LAPD SWAT officer killed in the line of duty.

Simmons was a 1974 Fairfax graduate.

Coach Rocky Sherwood is asking those Fairfax alumni interested in participating in the game to contact him by Friday via the phone at (818) 205-8813 or by email at resherwood@verizon.net.
