Newbury Park QB Colby Cameron told Rivals.com he’s planning to make the Oregon State football team as a walk-on this fall since he hasn’t received any offers from big-name schools on the West Coast. Cameron decided to pursue a walk-on chance with the Beavers after making an official visit to the Pac-10 school earlier this month.

Cameron received a scholarship offer from Louisiana Tech at the beginning of the season, but he wanted to stay closer to home, so playing in the Bayou State really wasn’t a serious option for the 6-foot-4, 190-pounder.

Cameron, whose sister Brynn plays on the USC women’s basketball team, played a key role in pushing Newbury Park to the Northern Division semifinals last fall. The All-Marmonte League first-teamer finished with 2,514 yards passing and 24 TDs.
