Don’t look now but Long Beach Wilson leads Mater Dei after one quarter

OK, let’s not get ahead of ourselves, but the Long Beach Wilson boys’ basketball team looked pretty sharp in the first quarter of its Southern Section Division I-AA semifinal against second-seeded Mater Dei at Ocean View.

The Bruins took a 21-20 lead into the second quarter, in fact. That Steven Richard-Michael Wilder combination looks as comfortable playing together as Keith Richards and Mick Jagger.

Let’s see what happens in the second quarter, but the crowd is on the edge of it seat anyway.
