Girls’ soccer: Division II semifinals have a Marmonte League feel

I guarantee a Marmonte League team will be playing for the Division II championship on Saturday, but don’t expect me to make any bold predictions about this afternoon’s semifinal games.

Still, it shouldn’t shock anyone that Thousand Oaks, Agoura and Moorpark could be as little as 80 minutes away from playing for a divisional title. I had a feeling all along these three teams would go really deep in the playoffs even though they didn’t get a ton of respect from the bracket builders (why were Yucaipa and Saugus the highest-seeded teams, again?).

Check out this quick rundown of all the big soccer games going on out in the VC this afternoon. Oh, and the VC is kind of like the OC -- only it’s a little further north and not as Bravo or MTV friendly.

As for the Marmonte League showdown between Agoura and Moorpark, it’s too close to call in my book. The Chargers’ sudden-death victory over Hart thanks to Kendall Dreyer’s clutch foot and Moorpark’s 2-0 triumph over Temecula Valley on Friday has prevented me from seeing a clear favorite in this contest.
