Those gutty little Bruins.

Everytime it looked like the Mater Dei boys’ basketball team was going to shake them off like a bothersome flea, the Bruins bit back.

Mater Dei leads at the half, but it’s only 36-35 in this Southern Section Division I-AA semifinal.

I’m wondering if the face of Mater Dei Coach Gary McKnight is a deep purple or a candy-apple red right about now? I’m guessing the latter.

Put it this way, if Wilson wins this game, it’ll be made into a movie.

The only thing the Bruins have going for them is the baseball team is here and they know a thing or two about winning big games. (Not sure if the water polo team is here but they know about winning too).

Anyway, sure is hot in this gym, probably a little more so for the Mater Dei folks, who already ordered their six-foot sandwich for next weekend’s tailgate party before the section finals at the Honda Center.
I still say the Monarchs win by 20.
