Girls’ basketball: Future looking bright for ECR

It was probably unfair to ask El Camino Real Coach Raquel Alotis to think about the future. The Conquistadores had just won the girls’ 2008 City Invitational Division championship, defeating University 48-42 Saturday morning in the Sports Arena.

I should at least let her get out to the bus with the trophy, and let loose a couple of ‘woo-woos.’

But Alotis is happy to talk about what be developing at ECR.

‘We have seven sophomores and four of them start,’ said Alotis. ‘Four sophomores and a junor start. We’re excited about the future. For us, this is the beginning.’

The future will stay bright if sophomore guard Sarah Rebibo stays two more years. Rebibo had 20 points in the Conquistadores’ victory.
