Southern California Interscholastic Basketball Assn. -- well, I think that’s what it stands four --brought out a couple of heavyweights at halftime of the Ayala-Cajon game.

Joe Vaughan and Dave Munroe were honored for their lifetime achievements.

Munroe retired after last season as the Hart girls’ coach. He had coached for 34 seasons, 18 coaching girls at Hart. He won 15 Foothill League titles, guided teams to the finals five times and won two titles. He won 384 games and was state coach of the year twice.

His numbers, though, actually pale compared to Vaughan, the Ventura legend who won 761 games and is the winningest girls’ basketball coach in state history.

His teams won 27 league titles and reached the section finals 14 times while winning six. His teams also won two state titles.

Those are two guys who definitely deserved their plaques.

Cajon leads at halftime, 26-24, over the defending champion.
